The
driveway leads you from route
131through the wooded 1.2 acre site to our
seaside "compound." In the photo on the
right, the cottage is in the center, and
the bunkhouse (also owning an ocean view)
is on the right. A small utility shed (no
access) is on the left. The Atlantic Ocean
lies just beyond the cottage, as you can
see from the photo on the left.
Drift
Inn Cottage looks directly out on a
sandy swimming beach and the open ocean.
It sits only 150 feet up from the high
tide, nestled among pointed firs and
graceful maples. From the large seaside
porch (and from all south-facing windows)
you can watch the ocean ebb and flow.
Woodwork
surrounds you "like a ship" wherever you
move inside. The cottage was built in 2000
with attention to detail throughout. The
bathroom in the master suite was
upgraded,
including a spacious glass enclosed
shower, in 2003.
Step
from the bedroom out onto the "morning
balcony" where you can watch the Maine
woods in the early light.
An
octagonal cupola is accessed from the
master bedroom upstairs. It offers ocean
views, a comfy place to relax and read, an
inspiring place to write or draw, and/or a
memorable sleeping nook.
